"Confusion" food court in Akmerkez Mall
Istanbul, Turkey [Akmerkez购物中心美食广场 | 土耳其,伊斯坦布尔]
We used the "Navi chair" from Emeco – they are very durable, looks great, very comfortable, easy to clean and just look better and better the older they get.
Refitting of the existing food court in Istanbul's most well known shopping mall Akmerkez. The roof was originally included in the concept design to gain additional leasable space. The extension from 3,500 to 7,000 sq.m. would gain a significant raise in lease income for the mall owners and a wider variety for the visitors.
The existing food court is a mix of restaurant from around the world with different flavors – you have all the ingredients of 'fusion-food' mixing the extraordinary. As the interior floor layout got moved around with food from around the world, it was clear that this food court should be named 'Confusion'. The name and interior design Claus came up with while working at Concept I being the lead designer on this project.
